
Ivan obtained his Bachelor of Arts in Economics and Finance with First Class Honours in 2015 from Hong Kong Shue Yan University. He then pursued his legal education, obtaining a Juris Doctor degree in 2017 and a Postgraduate Certificate in Laws in 2018, both from the Chinese University of Hong Kong. He has further obtained a Master of Laws in International Financial & Commercial Law from King’s College London in 2025.
Prior to joining our firm, Ivan gained valuable experience in civil litigation and arbitration proceedings in two established domestic law firms. His areas of practice includes handling contractual disputes, and has acted in shareholder disputes, unfair prejudice petitions, breaches of directors’ duties cases, land disputes, family disputes and arbitration cases.
In our firm, Ivan focuses on acting for a wide range of cross border commercial litigation and dispute resolution cases, for international clients including those from mainland China. The cases involve :-
1. Asset Preservation & Injunctions : Successfully acted for a defendant in resisting a high-value Mareva injunction involving assets exceeding US$150 million, navigating complex arguments regarding the risk of dissipation.
2. Cross-Border Enforcement : Represented a major PRC bank in the enforcement of a HK$150 million Mainland judgment in Hong Kong; successfully defended against an application to discharge a charging order absolute, ensuring the security of the client’s recovery.
3. Intellectual Property Litigation : Counsel for a Hong Kong listed company in a High Court trademark infringement dispute initiated by a UK-listed multinational, involving complex issues of brand identity and market confusion.
4. Property & Real Estate Disputes : Represented an intended defendant in contested proceedings regarding recovery of possession, of mortgaged property protecting the client’s possessory interests against hostile litigation.
